I love Friday. The one day where the efforts of an entire week culminate into a celebration: two days off, YES!
Ahhhhh, it is a fantastic day indeed. Even better now that when I leave work at 17:30 EST, as of the past couple days, it’s no longer dark out! The end is near, and the long summer eves are slowly coming back into sight. Sure, by the time I get home, dusk has started to settle in. But this no longer seems to matter; the short days of winter are going, going, almost gone!
As we get ready to bid adieu to the infinite darkness (aka season of hibernation), I can’t help but feel the need to embrace my Dark Side. That, and I’m in a geeky little mood; I should be more vigilant in taking care of some matters of necessity, but I feel too seduced by art and creativity to spend my Friday night working (somewhat akin to how a Jedi may sometimes feel seduced by the dark side. Except my seductions are of an inspirational spirit, as opposed to an evil one).
Avid Star Wars fan or not, you will be hard pressed to find anyone who is not familiar with the iconic legend that is Yoda, let alone one of his most famous phrases. But what exactly, is the cute little green guy trying to say? And is there a philosophy to his words of wisdom?
No matter how grown up we think we are, or how serious we are in our daily goings about, we all have that inner child in us just begging to be allowed out to play. We spend so much time carrying the weight of the world on our shoulders, that we forget to allow ourselves to let loose and indulge in the silly little pleasures in life. Moreover, we forget to surround ourselves with silly little things that have the power to make us bust out in giggles like we did when we were five years old.
I don’t know how about you, but I don’t ever want to grow up. Life is tough as it is at times, performing balancing acts, weathering the storms, being everything to everyone, and trying to find time for yourself.
